Maria Ibrahimova’s debut film the documentary MISS GULAG, was produced with support from the Sundance Institute and the Ford Foundation. It premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and screened at over 40 festivals and on TV around the world, including on the BBC. A Fulbright recipient for her documentary work with NATO on landmines, Maria also directed and produced several award-winning short films.
More recently, she created WOMEN IN MOTION, a program giving female filmmakers the opportunity to write and direct in Azerbaijan. She is producing her first feature film, NIGHT TIDE, with Azerbaijani director Ismail Safarali and Russian producer Alexander Rodnyansky, slated to begin principal photography in June 2018. And currently in development is Maria’s second feature film as a producer – CLOUDS ON LEASHES.
